Stresa Music Festival in Piedmont!

This post is also available in: Italian

The Stresa Music Festival was founded in 1961 by Italo Trentinaglia de Daverio, noble Venetian lawyer pushed to deal with music not by self-interest but why always lived in contact with music: his father was a music organizer Erard, General Director of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Superintendent of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and composer.

Since 1999 the Festival took the new name of “Settimane Musicali di Stresa e del Lago Maggiore”; among the localities involved stands the charming Hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso, where each year the prologue of the Festival, performs the solo cello suites of j. s. Bach. New concert venues are also the Auditorium “La Fabbrica” in Villadossola, the Visconteo Castle in Vogogna, the Rocca Borromeo of Angera, Villa Ponti in Arona, Villa San Remigio and the Church Madonna di Campagna in Verbania, the Chiesa Vecchia in Belgirate and the Basilica of San Giulio in Orta.

A small break was taken from June/July session, and concerts will be filmed from August 19 to September 6.
