The Palio dei Terzieri is a historical re-enactment that takes place from August 12 to 24 in Città della Pieve (PG) and recalls, as a bloodless, ancient “Cacce” of Siena, a sort of bullfights that even at the time of Perugino were held in nearby Ghibelline city, where Città della Pieve, rebellious State for centuries of the Church, is always linked to history, traditions, culture.

Lasts about 10 days and will end with the race of the “Bull” hunt amongst the Terzieri (neighbourhoods) “Casalino,” Borgo dentro “and” Castle “. The palio, invented in 1972 by Don Carbonari, with strong religious invocations, is the main tourist attraction of the city.

The day of the palio, after the historic procession from Piazza Plebiscito and accompanies the archers to the Santa Lucia range, there is the race of archery. Samples, three for each Terziere, have at their disposal three arrows for each shooter. The targets are three furniture silhouettes in the form of Chianina Bull, mounted on a single carousel; each wooden Bull has a sash in the colours of the respective Terziere. From the first to the third round, the carousel increases speed and catch the target becomes even more difficult.

Villa Romea (Umbria – Castiglione del Lago – Perugia)

To understand the charm of the area in which it is located, you need to know that Villa Romea owes its name to an old road, the Via Romea di Stade, which is close by and which the German scholar and abbot Alberto di Stade described for the first time, in a manuscript dated around 1250, as a pilgrimage route from Hamburg to Rome.
