This splendid villa, La Rocca, is situated in a dominant position with a beautiful view over the hills of the Val di Cornia that surround the little town of Suvereto and its medieval buildings, including the Rocca Aldobrandesca and, on clear days, over the island of Elba.
The villa, which has been carefully restored by the owner, enhancing the original structure, is located just 5 minutes from the centre of the walled town of Suvereto, a medieval borgo nestled in the hills of the Etruscan Riviera, surrounded by green valleys dotted with cork trees, from which its name derives (sughero = cork), and chestnut trees, with the sea in front in an enchanting architectural harmony of stone with that fascinating grey-reddish hue that covers its historic centre, considered one of the most beautiful borghi in Italy. The property is accessible along a private, unpaved road for about 200 metres. The villa has just one floor with a large patio and a private, fully fenced garden with old olive trees, manicured lawns and numerous species of tall trees such as cypresses, palms and flowering shrubs. A terrace, organised with a fantastic octagonal pool with tables and chairs overlooking the sea, is the ideal location for enjoying apéritifs in the open air and just relaxing. With direct access from the kitchen, in the large garden is an outdoor dining and barbecue area which will make your stay unique.
The villa has one floor. The main entrance leads directly to the frescoed living room, to the dining room with a pellet stove in majolica and to the kitchen through a sliding door, all areas with direct outside access. A corridor leads to a double bedroom with adjoining bathroom with shower, to a bedroom with queen size bed with ensuite bathroom and with access to an area with a double sofa bed with direct outside access, to the master bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower and tub and to a walk-in closet with outside access.
The park surrounding the villa covers about 300 sq m, with a large manicured lawn planted with beautiful palm trees and flowering shrubs, old olive trees and tall trees such as cypresses and holm oaks, with here and there terracotta vases with colourful flowers and with the part next to the villa paved in light-coloured travertine. The kitchen leads directly out to an outdoor dining area set up with awning, table and chairs next to a pleasant, well-kept cooking area with wood oven, also suitable for pizza, and a brick-built barbecue. The swimming pool can be reached through the living area French windows from the dining room and from the master bedroom. On the right side of the park is an automatic driveway access leading to external parking spaces and a little further on the possibility of up to three covered parking spaces and on the left as well is another automatic driveway access leading to external parking spaces.
The octagonal swimming pool is located on the panoramic terrace, overlooking the sea and hills, in front of the living area of the villa. It measures 8 x 4 m, equal to 54 cubic metres, with the depth ranging from 40 cm on the second step of the main staircase to 170 cm. Surrounding it is a large sunbathing area of 70 sq m with sunbeds and umbrellas. In the evening you have a beautiful view of the park with the pool illuminated by multicoloured internal lights. The pool can be heated. The pool is available from the last Saturday of April to the first Saturday of October.
This charming villa, with its beautiful views over the sea, is about 15 km away from the sandy beaches of Carbonifera, San Vincenzo, Rimigliano, Mortelliccio and the Gulf of Baratti. You arrive at Suvereto from the sea, along the Via Aurelia on the Etruscan Coast and turning inland when you get to Piombino and Venturina. The area is particularly suited for wine production and is part of the Etruscan Coast Wine Route where the Val di Cornia and Suvereto DOC (Denominazione Origine Controllata = Controlled Designation of Origin) wines are produced, the latter a high quality wine. Suvereto is also included in the circuit of “Cities of Wine and Oil”, known also for its olive presses: the extra virgin olive oil which accompanies the tasty cuisine of this land represents, in fact, a product of quality and flagship of the town. The comune of Suvereto is part of the Club “I Borghi più Belli d’Italia” (the most Beautiful Borghi of Italy) and the Slow City Movement. 15 km away is the port of Piombino from where boats leave for the island of Elba. Easily accessible from La Rocca are tourist towns such as Livorno (60 km), Pisa (73 km), Florence (91 km), Siena (59 km) and Lucca (88 km). Supermarkets are all located within 10 km even if the town with all kinds of shops is only 5 minutes by car (1.5 km)
